Designed as a complement to the AXD2 equatorial mount, the AXJ mount offers outstanding durability and precision.
The AXJ mount can also be used on AXD-TR102 tripods with an adapter.
Periodic errors on mounts are usually measured and corrected by the user. Unlike the old StarBook controller, the STAR BOOK TEN controller saves these errors permanently. The periodic error of the mount is measured in the factory (total of 12 points per 30 degrees worm gear) and corrected before delivery. This is known as V-PEC and functions automatically as soon as you use the mount. It delivers an accuracy of +/- 4.0 arc seconds. You can increase the tracking accuracy further by saving your own recorded periodic errors.
Vixen uses a new Belt-drive system in the AXJ mount. The gear drive was replaced with a toothed belt drive.
This gives the mount a quicker reaction time and lower backlash. It also helps to minimize noise. The 6x20 polar finder scope is pre-installed.
This allows the user to configure the polar alignment (for both the northern and southern hemispheres).
The polar finder scope has a variable illuminated reticle with an automatic power-off function. The brightness can be adjusted in 8 levels so that the user can configure the desired brightness.
SETTING ACCURACY OF LESS THAN 3 ARC MINUTES
The dark field illumination (red LED) turns on when the push button is pressed. The reticle also lights up in red so that the observer can recognize and align stars in the background of the reticle. The light turns off automatically after a few minutes to save battery power.
2 bearing sets (4 pieces) are used for the shaft of the RA axis. Thanks to the newly developed EQ design, the ZXJ mount has a higher load capacity of 22 kg.
As the motors, worm shaft and worm gear are located in the lower part of the mount, fewer counterweights are required than with conventional mounts.

Vixen Encoder for AXJ Mount

Make your AXJ mount more comfortable and precise with high precision encoders! The Vixen AXJ encoders allow you to manually move to the celestial objects via the monitor.
Generally, computer-controlled mounts have an automatic "go-to" system where the position of the objects through a 2-star allighnment
must be stored before the observation.
Once you have done this, the mount is able to find the objects automatically.
However, if you loosen the clamping levers on the mount while using the "go-to" system,
the telescope loses information to identify the object positions and the "Go-to" becomes unusable.
For this reason, the telescope could not be moved manually. However, with the AXJ encoder, this is now possible.
You can "go-to" one object and manually adjust the next by releasing the clamp, without losing the positioning information on the next "go-to".
On the high resolution monitor of the STARBOOK TEN control you can now adjust the objects comfortably by hand.
The second big advantage is an enormously high tracking accuracy with a periodic error <0.5 arcseconds which allows long time exposures
of faint celestial objects without an autoguiding system. This is a dream for any serious astrophotographer.
The AXJ encoders are mounted inside the mount, and thus do not affect the dimensions of the AXJ mount.

The AX103S is a top-of-the-range ED apochromat in the refractor series. It features a triplet ED object lens and a rear-mounted field-flattener lens.
The f8.0 refractor contains a central ED lens in the objective and reduces chromatic aberration to an absolute minimum.

Astrophotographers generally use two different focal lengths: Short focal lengths for overview photos and extensive deep-sky objects, and long focal lengths for objects which are further away. Our aspherical mirror optics offer the perfect solution for these scenarios. The VISAC primary mirror (Vixen Sixth-Order Aspheric Cassegrain) is specially designed for astrophotography and provides a fully flat and true-colour image over the entire image frame. Thanks to the three-element field corrector in front of the convex secondary mirror, there is no spherical aberration, coma or field curvature. Although the device is designed for astrophotography, it is also suitable for visual observations.

Featuring an improved design and optical properties, this compact field corrected Maksutov-Cassegrain system is Vixen's answer to Schmidt Cassegrain and more conventional Maksutov Telescopes. Instead of a heavy corrector plate, the Meniscus corrector is located directly in front of the secondary mirror. As a result, the Field-Maksutov does not dew up easily, as most conventional SCT s and Maksutovs do, when exposed to humid air. Thanks to the VMC's open tube system, the optics cool down quickly, ensuring that the telescope is ready for use in no time - again offering advantages over traditional Schmidts and Maksutovs, which can take a long time to acclimatise and reach thermal equilibrium. The long focal length of the VMC allows you to make detailed observations of planets, distant galaxies, individual lunar craters and mountains and many other celestial objects. The mirror is manufactured using an advanced coating deposition technique, normally reserved for research-grade instruments - ensuring an extremely smooth and precisely-finished optical surface. This, combined with the secondary corrector delivers extremely pleasing visual and photographic performance, with a very flat field. Unlike the primary mirrors in many rival SCTs and Maksutovs, the VMC200L's primary is fixed and doesn't travel on a focuser baffle, adding to stability and as a result this telescope does not suffer from "mirror flop" or focus shift.The focuser is a conventional, smooth-running single speed rack and pinion design, which ensures stability, even at high loading. It can be simply upgraded to dual speed use for finer focus control with the X000143 Vixen Dual-Speed-Focuser, if required.The telescope is supplied with a standard Vixen profile mounting dovetail bar and is also supplied with a carry handle, which makes transport and mounting much easier. All the BRESSER Plössl eyepieces provide sharp and high-contrast images because of the 4-lens design. All lenses have fully-multicoated surfaces which prevents reflections efficiently. Every eyepiece is equipped with a foldable rubber eyecup to avoid straylight from the sides and the inner eyepiece shaft is carefully blackened as well. Housing and eyepiece shaft are completely made from metal - no plastic is used. Filter thread for use with colour- and nebular filters is also available.
All these Plössl eyepieces offer a much better image quality than all the very simple made Kellner and Huygens eyepieces.

Besides air turbulence, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Street lamps and other artificial lighting mean that the sky in human settlements is no longer really black. This affects the contrast and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, part of disturbing artificial light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe fainter targets.The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CITY LIGHT SUPRESSION - or CLS - filter uses the fact that the artificial lighting is not evenly distributed over the entire spectrum.
